The Last Week of November - Thanksgiving Day

On 4th Thursday in November, Thanksgiving Day.

You were a bit sleepy for a Monday…

Luckily, you worked last weekend and most of you did your homework! Most of you, but not all of you. . .

I gave 2 points for those of you who did it!

Selene left us and went to another class. What a pity! We missed you today!

We made postcards pretending to be on holiday and sent them to another classmate. Your pictures were beautiful, but keep working on your writing!

We have studied prepositions: ON the beach, AT the seaside, IN the city, IN the mountain…

We read about Thanksgiving Day

Can you remember the answers to these questions?

When is Thanksgiving Day celebrated in Canada?
When is Thanksgiving Day celebrated in the USA?
What was the “Mayflower”?
How do Americans celebrate this date?
What did Native Americans help the Pilgrims to do?

Do you remember the meaning of these words?
Corn, sweet potato, a feast, thankful, cabin, squash, turkey, Pilgrims

For homework, make sentences using the words above. You can use more than one word in the same sentence.

Today’s score is an overall performance: attention , work in class and behaviour

November 18th

We started talking about holidays.

Do you remember these words:

Deck chairs – chair lift – towel- sunbathe – snowboard – ski  poles – soldier – boat – slope- bucket -  kiosk – sandcastle

Go ahead and match them with these holidays:

At the seaside / in the city / in the mountains

We played “Japanese Whispers” and hangman.
Selene did all the homework, Manuel & Andrea brought the photo, …and what about the rest?
Well, at least all of you worked in class!

Survey on Hobbies, for my first class with you.

Listening about hobbies
Hello, I’m your new teacher.
My name’s Mª Ángeles. Nice to meet you!

I see there’s somebody whose second name is the same as mine!
And there’s  also a girl who has the same surname as mine. What a coincidence!

Let’s  get to work!

So, our interviewers conducted a survey to find out the best hobby.
Do you remember the questions:

What’s your hobby? What do you like about it? Who do you play with / do your hobby with? Where do you play it / do it? What do you like about it? Can you remember a special moment (e.g. wining a medal / a trophy / beating another team / finding something unusual...)

Do you think you could interview your father, your mother or another member of the family about their hobbies?
You can use the questions above.

And for homework: find a photo or a picture related to holidays. It could be a photo of one of the holidays you had or a photo from a magazine. Because  we’re going to talk about hols. in our next class. (hols means holidays)

And ...this is the result of our game

Monday 4th November

Hi everybody!

In our class today, we talked about Halloween.
You did lots of funny things!
We worked a little and we play, play, play…
First, you have to describe your hobbies without saying the name. And we have to guess what hobby it is.
You have to spell your names. Yes, well done!
Let´s play! Hide the rubber and give us clues so that we can find it. Is it above, below, under, behind, in front of…the chair? The table? In your pocket?
We learnt new words: coat hanger, pocket, to stick.

OH! I think you were waiting for this:
